From Trash To Treasure
Giving Old Chairs New Life
STOP! Don't throw out Grandmas Chairs from the 50's.
These chairs were stored in an attic for many years and were in terrible condition.

You can give old chairs like these a new life with very little effort at all. New Fabric, Batting, and a good Staple Gun is all it took to turn these shabby chairs into a set of chairs to be passed on to the next generation.

A Garage Sale Find!
Last Summer I came accross this Ice Cream Parlor set at a garage sale.
When I purchased it, it was painted completely white, one of the backs were missing, and the fabric did not match.

All it took to renew this wonderful set was some fresh paint, a new back for one, and some new fabric.
The total cost of the project was $55.00.

$20.00 for the Set
$27.00 for Fabric
$8.00 for Paint

Here is an article I came across on how to make "Butterfly Candle Holders" What a wonderful way to add a persoal touch to any room.Butterfly Candle Holders

Choosing a Color Scheme

People often have trouble when choosing a color scheme for their homes. By choosing the right color scheme you can create a warm, inviting, and a pulled together feeling.

One simple way of accomplishing this is to Pick a Pattern. Look over your Furniture, area rugs and art work, one of these pieces are bound to have a pattern that you love. When you have a pattern you like, choose three colors from that pattern.( A light color, a medium tone, and a darker color.)

Now use the light color for your background color(your walls) If this color is still a bit dark or to vivid, knock it down by adding white or grey. Use this same color for your floors, but it is more pleasing if you have a darker variation on the floor. This will help ground the room for you.

When applying the medium tone, use it on your largest pieces of furniture, and window treatments. This will look especially nice if you have a bit of your wall and floor colors mixed in with them.

As for the darker tone, use this color on your accessories, and smaller pieces of furniture. Be sure to distribute this color evenly through out the room.
